The short, honest version
Privacy
The Weekly Receipt collects the least it can. If you ask us to email you, we keep your email address, your money animal, and a record of your consent — and send it to our email provider so we can write to you. Everything else stays in your own browser. We don’t sell your data, we don’t use tracking cookies, and analytics stay off until you say yes.

This policy is provided for transparency and has not yet been reviewed by counsel. We’ll keep it current as the product and our data practices evolve.
What we collect
Only what a given feature needs. If you choose to give us your email — to unlock the deeper read on your result or to get the weekly email — we collect:
- your email address;
- your money animal (and shadow animal), so the emails match your result;
- a timestamp of your consent to be emailed, which our server records at the moment you submit — it is never supplied by your browser;
- a non-identifying referral tag and any campaign parameters (utm) from the link that brought you here, if present, so we can count how people find us in aggregate.
That submission passes through our own server (hosted on Vercel) on its way to our email provider. Standard server logs may briefly record request data in the ordinary course of running and debugging the site.
What we deliberately don’t collect
- Your individual quiz answers. They stay in your browser and are never sent to us or to any email provider — only your resulting money animal is.
- Any personal data inside analytics. Our analytics events carry no email, no name, and no free text — only counts like which question a session stopped on or which animal came up.
- Tracking cookies. We don’t use them. The one choice we remember (your analytics answer) is stored in your browser, not in a cookie, and our analytics are cookieless.
- Social usernames or profiles. We don’t collect or store them.
- We never sell your data or share it for anyone else’s advertising.
How consent works
Analytics are off by default. When you first visit, we ask a plain yes-or-no question about whether we can count what people do on the site. Nothing analytics- related loads until you choose “yes,” and the quiz works exactly the same either way.
You can change your mind at any time. In the footer there’s an Analytics: on/off — change control that reopens that choice; turn it off and we stop counting. Giving your email is a separate, explicit opt-in — there are no pre-checked boxes, and every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe.
Who processes your data
We rely on a small number of third parties, each acting on our behalf under its own privacy and data-protection terms:
- Vercel hosts the site and provides our cookieless web analytics. As our host it processes ordinary request data and keeps standard server logs.
- Our email newsletter provider stores your email address and money animal so it can send the emails you asked for. Today that provider is MailerLite; if we ever move to another established newsletter platform, we’ll update this page.
Data that stays on your device
Some things live only in your browser’s storage and are never sent to us: your in-progress quiz answers, your analytics choice, a simple flag noting that this browser has already subscribed, and — for the current tab only — the referral tag from the link you arrived on. Clearing your browser’s site data removes all of it.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — the kinds of rights the GDPR and similar laws provide. Every email we send also has a one-click unsubscribe; use it any time and we stop. To make any of these requests, contact us at the address below.
Children
The Weekly Receipt is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
As the product grows, this policy will too. When we change it we’ll update the date at the top, and we’ll flag anything material rather than sliding it past you.
